My week in pictures accompanied by my Mix Tape Monday choice!

May 28, 2012

It has to be said, I love this weather! We have enjoying playing and relaxing in the garden this week, similar to a lot of people I’m sure.

At the start of the week I gave myself a little treat and bought some new trousers and some Jubilee style wooden bunting. Well, I’ve got to jump on the Jubilee band wagon some how! My excuse is that all my Instagram girls have got way more than me, you know who you are!

On Friday we went to our lovely friends and Noo’s godparents, barbecue. It was a great night but we had a very over tired and a little, well, hysterical, Noo when it came to home time.

The weekend was spent having fun and relaxing in the garden. We were going to weed the overgrown front garden but, um, we retreated to the back garden instead! Lazy!

To accompany all this sunny weather here is my absolute ultimate summer track that has been blasting out of my car all this week:
Incubus – Wish You Were Here
Listen. Soak in the summer.

Little E and her Little Jellycat Bashful Bunny

May 23, 2012

My gorgeous Little E who is now 16 months (time is zooming by) loves the nursery rhyme Sleeping Bunnies . You know the one..

See the little bunnies sleeping till it’s nearly noon

Shall we try and wake them with a merry tune?

They’re so still are they ill? Wake up soon..

Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop,

Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop,

Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop,

Hop and stop.

Whenever we go to playgroup it is always the song she wants at song time and her little face lights up whenever she hears it. I love watching her dance around and try to hop.

When the lovely people at Hello Baby sent us a Bashful Bunny do you know what the first thing she did with it when she got it? She bounced it up and down saying ‘Op, Op, Op’ and giggled!

It is such a gorgeous toy and so soft – a definite favourite when it comes to bedtime snuggles!

The Little Jellycat Bashful Bunny Medium Size is available from the online nursery shop Hello Baby. Hello Baby also sells a wide range of other baby and nursery stuff including Baby Toys, nursery furniture, baby travel and baby safety products.

Hello Baby provided us with a Bashful Bunny for the purpose of this post. We recieved no other payment.

A week in photos..

May 22, 2012

I meant to write and upload this post yesterday but unfortunately life got in the way and I ended up cleaning and baking after the girls had gone to bed instead!

Little E had a great start to the week, meeting friends for coffee and taking a wander around Mothercare World – of course stopping to have a little play in the Early Learning Centre section!

Noo had great fun jumping and stomping in puddles outside the supermarket. I think it made being dragged around to to the food shop a little more bearable.

Little E and I go to a active babies group at our local leisure centre on Thursday and always has lots of fun running between rooms from one fun activity or toy to another. Mummy always has a well earned coffee and sit down at home after that one.

On Saturday we had a quick trip into town and couldn’t resist a little stop off in Starbucks. Little E was treated to her first ever babyccino. To be honest she spent more time stirring it that she did drinking it, but she had fun nonetheless.

Mummy, Daddy and Me Makes Three has a lovely little link up where people can share their week, have a look by clicking on the badge below.

A week in photos.. and my choice for Mix Tape Monday!

May 14, 2012

Here are a few photos from the past week:

I used the app Diptic to make the framed collages and Instagram to edit them. If you are on Instagram find me on there and say hello, @butwhymummywhy)

I’ve heard this song on a few TV programmes recently and really fell in love with it:

Bon Iver, Flume

( By the way Mix Tape Monday is a little meme hosted by iwantmymummy so head over to her for some more musical choices)

Pin Addicts Pinterest Challenge: Chocolate Crackle/Crinkle Cookies

May 7, 2012

Hello all my lovely fellow Pin Addicts and welcome to the May Challenge!

This month it is my turn to host the challenge so there is a linky at the bottom of the post for you to link up your make or to have a peek at other peoples.

I decided to try and make these very yummy looking cookies:

Source: call-me-cupcake.blogspot.com via Butwhymummywhy on Pinterest

20120506-200011.jpg

Ingredients

175g chocolate (at least 70% cocoa solids)

75g butter

1/2 cup of granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

2 tablespoons of cocoa powder

3/4 teaspoon of baking powder

1/4 teaspoon of salt

Icing sugar and granulated sugar to roll in (separately)

20120506-205555.jpg

Melt that butter and chocolate on a low heat. Whisk the eggs and sugar until they are light and fluffy.

20120506-195101.jpg

Add the vanilla extract. Let the melted chocolate and butter mixture cool slightly before adding to the eggs and sugar. In another bowl mix the dry ingredients.

20120506-195051.jpg

Combine the dry ingredients with the chocolate mixture. When combined cover with cling film and put in the fridge for about 2 hours.

Form dough balls and then roll in the sugar.

When researching this recipe online before attempting it I came across a tip that mentioned rolling the cookie dough ball in granulated sugar first before the icing sugar. After trying both with two batches I decided that I personally preferred this method over the one favoured by the original recipe that I pinned. It made the outside of the cookie a bit crunchier in contrast to the soft middle.
20120506-195031.jpg

Line baking trays with greaseproof baking paper and heat the oven to 165C. Lightly pressed the balls after placing them on the trays and then bake for 10-12 minutes.

And there you have it, yummy chocolate crinkle cookies!
